Karnataka Employers' Association

1961

Based on the industrial climate prevalent in India at the time, Late G.K. Govinda Bhat (a leading Advocate) advised Late B.R Puttananjappa, Advocate, to form an Employers Association

1962

Mysore State Employers Association (MSEA) was formed & registered with the Mysore State Registrar of Trade Unions

1963

The founder Secretary Late B.R. Puttananjappa started circular services and organised seminars on then current issues on Industrial Relations & Labour Legislations

1967

Mysore State Employers Association (MSEA) was renamed as Karnataka Employers’ Association (KEA)

1972

Sri B. C. Prabhakar - was inducted as Joint Secretary

1985
KEA affiliated with national & international bodies: All India Organisation of Employers (AIOE); Employers’ Federation of India (EFI); International Labour Organisation (ILO)
1985 – 2008

Sri B. C. Prabhakar (as KEA representative) was nominated to attend ILO Technical Meetings and Workshops globally (Geneva, Dublin, Indonesia, Thailand, Italy, Nepal, etc.)

1986

KEA celebrated its Silver Jubilee, which was inaugurated by Sri Chandrashekar, Ex-Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka

1990

 KEA started organising several Seminars and Workshops in collaboration with ILO, AIOE, EFI and on its own

1998

Sri B. C. Prabhakar led a Study Group for promising business executives and Employers’ Association leaders from various countries on Total Quality Management held at Tokyo, Japan

2005

Sri B. C. Prabhakar - was elected as President of KEA

2007
  1. Launch of KEA Website - KEA was the first Employers' Organisation in the country to launch its own website
  2. A book on ‘Gender Sensitivity at Workplace’ authored by Sri B.C. Prabhakar - President, KEA was released as an ILO Publication. This was the first book to be published on the subject of ‘Gender Sensitivity at Workplace’ in the state of Karnataka

 

2012

KEA celebrated its Golden Jubilee which was inaugurated by the then Central Minister of Labour & Employment Sri Mallikarjun Kharge, with Dr M.R. Jayaram - Chairman of Gokula Education Foundation (M.S. Ramaiah Institutions) as Chief Guest

2012-2019

KEA continued its activity of organising multiple Seminars, Workshops & Training Programmes in collaboration with ILO/AIOE/FKCCI/BCIC/PSI/BCP Associates

2020-2022

KEA's response to Covid-19 Epidemic was both rapid and timely for which it received wide media coverage

1. KEA organised several programs virtually to guide its members & employers

2. Under the able leadership of Sri. B.C. Prabhakar, KEA rallied hard on behalf of its member companies to effect changes and reforms at the Government & Legislative levels to better handle the unprecedented pandemic

3. During the pandemic, KEA recognised and applauded several member companies who went above and beyond to protect and retain their employees while battling to sustain their businesses

2022
  1. KEA along with BCP Associates (its knowledge partner), conducted a survey across 700 member companies on the preparedness of the Industry in relation to the proposed Labour Codes

2. Appointment of Mr. Raj Pillai, Vice President as Honorary Chief Executive Officer and Ms. Pooja Prabhakar, Vice President as Honorary Chief Operating Officer of the Association

3. CEO & COO of KEA visit Singapore and meet with Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and the Ministry of Manpower in the month of August 2022

4. KEA celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with Padma Vibhushan - Sri Azim Premji, Founder Chairman, Wipro Limited & Chairman, Azim Premji Foundation as the Chief Guest

5. On this historic day, Sri Azim Premji unveiled a plaque to commemorate and symbolize 60 glorious years of KEA’s robustness and solid standing

6. To evolve KEA to the next level, the vision of KEA 2.0 was launched with a strategy that entails 3 Rs - Relevance, Reach & Raise

2023

KEA’s march toward greater heights and sustained contribution to the world of employers continues…
